Mary MacKillop Story
Mary MacKillop Story

Mary MacKillop was born on the 15th of January in 1842.
Her parents were from Scotland, her mother, Flora and her father, Alexander MacKillop. They had 8 children and Mary was the oldest sibling out of all of them. Mary was well educated by her father, but Mary and her family were really poor and didn’t have a home, and they were separated a lot since they were poor.
When Mary was 18 she moved to Penola in South Australia, Where she became a governess to her uncle and aunty’s children, The Camerons. Mary had a dream to educate 4 children. In 1867 she became the first sister of Saint Joseph and wore a black dress. A school opened in Penola in an old stable and she decided to teach children there. Soon young women were inspired by Mary and became sisters with her. They opened schools for the poor and the children in the outback settlement. Mary also opened an orphanage, while the sisters were visiting people in jail.
Her dream was for everyone to be kind. She usually said “Never see a need without doing something about it.” She said this to the sisters and the children. Throughout her life she was misunderstood. Bishop Sheil mistakenly thought Mary was disobedient. Bishop Sheil expelled Mary from the church and also expelled 47 sisters. This hurt Mary very much. Later on, Bishop Sheil realised the mistake he made for expelling Mary, so he welcomed her back to the church. Bishop Roynold told Mary to move to Italy.
Mary suffered from rheumatism, so her right side got paralyzed, she couldn’t walk, she couldn’t stand, but she could talk. A few days later she had to rely on a wheelchair. But the sisters kept on working hard.
Mary died at Mount Street at North Sydney on the 8th of August 1909. After her death, the sisters did a wonderful thing that Mary started.

Most of the votes were “other.” “Other” had 12 votes. 34.3% of students chose the Other Category. The Other category comprises of Mexican, Italian, and African food.
Second was “Asian food,” with 9 votes and 25.7% percent. We think that a lot of people choose Asian food because they like foods like, Springrolls, Sushi, Ramen, Dumplings, etcetera.
Third was American food with 17.1%, (six) students picked American Food because I think the food they find interesting are hot dogs, Mcdonalds, Burger King, Five Guys, Taco Bell, Chick-Fil-A, and a lot of others.
Fourth category was “Pacifica food”. Pacifica food has 14.3% (five) of the votes. We think that Pacifica food doesn’t have many votes because people might have not ever tasted Pacifica foods.
The food with the least amount of votes was “Indian food” with 3 votes. Indian food has 8.6% of the votes. We think that Indian food might have the least amount of votes because they might have never tasted this food before, or they might not like spicy food.
We think that there's more votes with
” because they might like other culture food, then the ones we listed down, or they might have liked all of the choices we gave them.

Today in Room 2 we have been making Word clouds, based of Mary Mackillop values. I done the value "Make Room For All. I put in a hand reaching out of another hand because it reminded me of this value.

Santa Letter
Dear Santa, or imaginary figment that creates childhood dreams.
I know that you're not real but if you were, I’d still convince you to come to my house. I’ve been neither good or bad, I mean I’ve been annoying my brothers for most of the time… AND I’ve been helping my parents with chores… Okay FINE. To my point of view I’ve been a bit bad… But if I could change it I'd do my best to change it. By the way I’d like a frog bag and an oversized jacket.
PS- Where do all the childrens letters go if you don’t exist?
